Recently I've been feeling less like my cheerful self and to be perfectly honest, I don't like it! I know part of it is due to my personality shift that happens around this time of year (autumn and cold weather and whatnot). But part of it is due to things that I have very little control over (or so I like to pretend) and therefore I see less magic in the world. Of course, this is also due to me being very occupied with work. Sigh. I know there's a light at the end of the tunnel
Now let me be perfectly clear. This shift is not about me being sad. I am not sad Dana. Please do not confuse sad Dana and sarcastic Dana. Of course I will never give up my sarcastic commentary. It's part of who I am.
La! This is not what I intended to write this post about so enough with the digressing. In order to offset my autumn...er, lets say "melancholy" shall we? I decided to look into taking a dance class, something I discovered is incredibly awesome when I was in my last year of undergrad (If only I'd been in dance classes as a kid!). Turns out my mom gave me a catalogue for the "free" Colorado University a few months ago and I still had it lying around (the classes aren't actually free, but they're very reasonably priced and you don't have to enroll in the school to take the classes).
So, one Sunday a couple of weeks ago, I was putzing around online looking for classes when I suddenly remember the catalogue. It was outdated, but I hopped on their website and started looking up classes they had. So many, I couldn't believe it. I ended up signing up for beginning hip-hop (every Thursday for 4 weeks), travel-writing for dummies (or something like that) and basics of cooking.
My first class was tonight. Hip-hop. I'll admit I was nervous about it all day. I didn't get much work done (I'm trying to be OK with that since the main reason is that I went to a memorial service for a co-worker's wife...but that's another story) in my few short hours of actually being at work today and I was so excited when the clock hit 5:00. I didn't actually go home but stayed to play around in InDesign and create fun little cards for my Halloween Party foods...thinks like "witch's snot guacamole"...muahahaha...that one might be my favorite...totally Sar's too. I'm all about borrowing genius.
Lalala. Digressing! Oh also, just read Twilight in 3 days and loved it! I haven't been addicted to a book since the last Harry Potter came out (and another sad fact is that I have six unfinished books on my night stand that I've read about half of and can't see through to the finish for some reason). Twilight rocked and now I want my own sexy vampire to lust after...
So...hip-hop. I bet you thought I'd forgotten about that (you're right, I did. But fortunately, all I had to was scroll up and read a little. I'm so smart). My first class was tonight and I was nervous for nothing. Oh, I totally and completely sucked, but I had so much fun. The short asian guy teaching us has an amazing body (and just so you realize how amazing it is, I could tell it was amazing and he was wearing baggy jeans and a long-sleeved T. Mmmm...delish). He's fun and the seven of us in his class all pretty much suck. But it seems like we're all OK with looking like idiots. That's when it's the funnest!
Muahahaha! BTW, Ty used to use this when I first started chatting with him online...I think, well it sounds familiar anyway...but I've been working it in to my online stuff more an more because of Alicia. It's her adorable diabolical laugh and since I've been thinking about her a lot (strange how that goes sometimes when friends don't talk as often as they have in the past). Like I said, I love borrowing from genius!
Okay, I need to used these happy endorphins flowing through my blood stream to clean up my apartment. I have a big day tomorrow, what with spending massive amounts of money on food, drinks, and decorations; putting up said decorations; making said food and drinks; and of course getting ready for my Halloween Party! Minnie is gonna rock it. And Kerry and Ant will be here in about an hour. Hop to it!
